Where to live after halls – our student guide to finding the right area in Newcastle

You’ve just found the perfect balance between getting to seminars on time and going out on weekdays. You’ve settled into student halls, made friends and joined a society. Now it’s already time to start thinking about where you’re going to live in the next academic year and it can feel overwhelming. But here at Roseworth we’ve put together a guide to Newcastle student areas which should help you make your decision

 

City Centre

 

What could be better than waking up in the heart of the city? Liiving in the city centre can be slightly more expensive however the plus side is that you’ll have everything is on your doorstep. Property is in high demand so best act quickly if you’re thinking of living in a central location.

Jesmond

 

In Jesmond there’s a mix of students, young professionals and families. It’s within walking distance of the city centre and both universities. If you’re feeling lazy you can hop on the metro at either West Jesmond or Jesmond.  The legendary Osborne Road has rows of popular bars and restaurants.

Sandyford is also within walking distance of both universities, and is particularly popular with students studying at Northumbria University. There’s a good range of affordable student accommodation available.

Heaton

 

Heaton is a bohemian area of the city with great transport links. There’s plenty of quirky cafés where you can treat yourself to a hangover breakfast and a large park to have picnics in the summer months.
