If it’s nightlife you’re looking for at university then Newcastle is the right city for you. With an abundance of bars and clubs in the city centre, you really are spoilt for choice when it comes to a big night out.

Osborne Road in Jesmond

By now you will have heard of the legendary Osborne Road where there’s an array of bars including the Spy, Osbornes and Bar Blanc (to name just a few)! This is a popular party destination for both Newcastle University and Northumbria University students, and an excellent place to begin your night out.

Feeling peckish before you begin? Roseworth recommends Cal’s Own which is nearby on Holly Avenue West in Jesmond. Expect giant authentic pizzas at a reasonable price.

Newcastle City Centre

After Jesmond you will probably want to head into the city centre. Newcastle student life is renowned for being full on. Before paying entry into the clubs you might want to stop by a Trebles Bar. Mimo’s, Soho Rooms, Bijoux and Empress are all popular student choices in the city centre and they offer deals.

Most clubs have dedicated students nights throughout the week so keep your eyes open for promotions on social media. Newcastle University and Northumbria University both have their own Students’ Union and venue, too. Perdu, Tup Tup Palace, Greys Club, The Cut and Digital are just some clubs you might consider. Most charge around £5 for entry.

Got the munchies?

Once you’ve partied non-stop then there’s another tough decision on your hands – where to go for food? With all the usual contenders (McDonalds, Subway etc.) you won’t have a problem getting rid of the munchies. We even have a late night Greggs!

Wherever you end up going nights out make sure you drink responsibly and stay safe. Make plans to get home before you leave the house and keep your keys, wallet and mobile phone on you at all times.
